Students Thriving Achieving and Reaching
What is S.T.A.R.?
S.T.A.R. is a program that places tutors within Howe School classrooms and also matches students with their own individual tutor for more concentrated attention.  S.T.A.R. focuses on encouraging student success by helping students with content areas they may struggle in.  Primary focus is places on reading and math, with other skills building on these primary concepts.

Why S.T.A.R.?
Students can really thrive with individualized attention and, at times, this is all it takes to put a student on the right track academically.  Our mentor attempt to help every student they work make gains both academically and socially.  The student is also able to work with the same tutor repeatedly making this both a mentoring and tutoring program!

Who is S.T.A.R. for?
S.T.A.R. is for elementary aged youths who may be struggling in math or reading.  Teacher cooperation is an essential component to S.T.A.R., so we must also have buy-in from the child's teacher.
